Questions
Short answers to what we are asked most: what Amicorum is, how guests take part, and where things stand before the first print run.
What is Amicorum?
Amicorum is an heirloom guest book service. It gathers the notes, recipes and photographs of a wedding’s or family’s guests from a private link, and has them printed and bound as a hardcover book.
It revives the album amicorum, the 16th-century “book of friends”.
What is an album amicorum?
An album amicorum, Latin for “book of friends”, was a small book that students and scholars carried in the 16th century. Friends, teachers and people met on the road wrote in it: a signature, a motto, a verse, sometimes a drawing.
It is an ancestor of the autograph book and of the guest book.
How do guests add their pages?
The host shares a private link. Each guest opens it on a phone or a computer and adds a note, a recipe or a photograph.
Guests need no app and no account.
Who decides what is printed?
The host does. Every contribution comes to the host first, to read, correct, put in order or leave out. Nothing is printed until the host has approved the whole book.
Which occasions is it for?
Weddings first. Amicorum began as a guest book that wedding guests write together, and it serves anniversaries and collections of a family’s recipes in the same way.
Other occasions are planned to follow: a retirement, a graduation, a memorial, the birth of a child.
What is the book like?
It is a hardcover book, printed on acid-free paper. A print partner prints and binds each one and ships it to the host.
The sizes and the cover materials will be confirmed before the first print run.
How much does it cost?
Prices have not been set. They will be announced before the first print run begins, and the people on the waitlist will be the first to hear.
Where do you ship?
At launch, Amicorum is offered and shipped within the United States only.
When does Amicorum open?
Amicorum plans for the inaugural print run in 2026/2027. Entry will be by invitation to those who signed up for the waitlist.
We will announce the official launch date when it is known.
What happens when I request an invitation?
Your email address is placed on the waitlist. A welcome letter confirms it, and we write again when Amicorum opens. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
What do you do with my email address?
We use it to send your welcome letter, and to write to you when Amicorum opens. The privacy policy sets out the rest.
Who is behind Amicorum?
Amicorum is an independent company in the United States, founded and built by William.
How do I ask something else?
