About Amicorum
Amicorum is an heirloom guest book service. It gathers the notes, recipes and photographs of a wedding’s or family’s guests from a private link, and has them printed and bound as a hardcover book.
Where it began
William and his wife were out celebrating their anniversary when they stopped in a bookstore. There he overheard a father and his daughter, who were looking for a “coffee table book” that could serve as the guest book at her wedding. They happened to be near the cookbook section, and she pulled out a couple of them and began flipping through.
“We were talking about having a coffee table book to serve as our guest book,” she said to her father, “but I think it might be a cool idea to use a cookbook.”
“Yeah, that would be neat,” he replied. “Just have everyone pick out a recipe page and write a note or sign it.”
From there the idea for the business was born: a guest book written by the people who love you, and worth opening again.
The tradition behind the name
Searching for a name, and for words to describe the idea, William came upon the term album amicorum, Latin for “book of friends”, and chose Amicorum as the name of the business.
In the 16th century, students and scholars carried such a book, and the people they met wrote in it: a signature, a motto, a verse, sometimes a drawing. Over the years it became a record of a life told by its friendships.
Amicorum brings that book back for the gatherings that matter now: a wedding, an anniversary, a family and its recipes.
Who is behind it
Amicorum is an independent company, founded in the United States in 2026 by William, who is building it personally.
